Finding Success in the Unexpected: Navigating Life's Difficulties to Raise Productive, Independent Adults with Stacey Santonastasso

Imagine an expectant mother finding out at her 19 week ultrasound that her baby was afflicted with Hanhart Syndrome and would be born with no legs and only one arm among other physical challenges.  Stacey Santonasasso sat in a doctor’s office after hearing doctors tell her that should her baby survive birth, he would be deeply challenged throughout his life.  She decided to rely on her faith and focused on the love she already felt for her baby as she waited for his arrival.   

When Nick was born, Stacey knew that she wouldn’t raise him as someone who was disabled.  Instead, she and her husband created opportunities throughout Nick’s childhood for him to try and do things other kids could do.  Stacey made it certain that Nick realized he was FAR more capable than anyone would have initially taught.

In essence, Stacey raised Nick to be a creative problem solver with an unshakable faith in his talents and abilities.  The root of Stacey’s story is of the strength you can find in yourself during the most trying times.  Stacey has developed the mindset that all challenges are gifts in some way and she will inspire you to change the way you view the trying circumstances in your own life.
